Welcome to our Preschool
Are you looking for a Preschool place for your 3 or 4 year old? We can offer a 15 or a 30 hour place as soon as there is a place available in the first whole term, following their 3rd birthday. The needs of every child are different, which we fully understand, and we work with our families to ensure flexibility of hours children attend. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
We opened our Preschool in September 2020 and have worked hard to create a stimulating, creative and exciting environment where children can learn and develop through explorative play. We aim to provide a warm, inviting and stimulating environment within Parrot Class for Preschool children where children feel happy and secure and are encouraged to achieve their full potential. This is a class made up of two age ranges, Preschool (ages 3-4) and Reception (ages 4-5) and they are taught by a highly experienced teacher and support staff.
Research proves that when children have attended a Preschool in a school setting, transition is smooth into full time education. The benefits of attending a Preschool are:
Pupils thrive in our happy school where the continual focus is on improvement and reflection. One parent in a recent parent survey stated commented that
“The staff really care about the children and they know each one individually. It is a small and very nurturing school and the behaviour of the children is exceptional.”
Location
Set in the small village of Longcot, surrounded by beautiful countryside and overlooking White Horse Hill, Longcot and Fernham Primary is an outstanding educational setting where all are warmly welcomed. Longcot and Fernham CE Primary School has a large outdoor space comprising of a large outdoor playground, an adventure playground, large field area and Cooper’s Corner, where our outdoor education takes place.
In addition, the Preschool and Reception pupils have their own fenced and secure all weather surfaced play area. Here they are able to experience all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.
At Longcot and Fernham we believe that high quality learning experiences are vital as they lay the foundations for a lifetime's love of learning. Our play based curriculum covers the seven fundamental areas of learning identified by the Department for Education and will help all children develop key literacy, numeracy, personal and social skills, as well as a positive and proactive approach to learning.
Lunchtime
If children would like a hot dinner, this can be purchased at £2.70 or children are able to bring a packed lunch from home.
Uniform
We want the children to feel a part of Longcot and Fernham Primary School and therefore wear the school uniform of a blue polo shirt, a Longcot and Fernham sweatshirt or cardigan and black trousers. Our school uniform stockists are Mapac and can be found at www.mapac.com
Funding
Preschool children can take up a 30 hour place (6 hours x 5 days) or a 15 hour place. Please note we are only taking up to 8 places per session during term time. We encourage parents to use all their allotted sessions however we fully understand if children are not ready for their full allocation of hours. We will, of course, work with each family to ensure the best for each child. Consistent attendance allows children to settle more quickly and to establish routines. Parents who are only entitled to 15 hours of Government funding are welcome to pay for the additional 15 hours at a rate of £5.30 per hour.
