“Nature is a tool to get children to experience not just the wider world, but themselves”
Stephen Moss
Outdoor Education (also known as Forest School) is a powerful outdoor learning experience. This firsthand experience allows all children to learn by making their own choices, understanding supportive risk taking and how to solve problems themselves to become independent learners.
It develops the passion for the outdoor world and is inspirational.
Children chat, laugh, run, make up games, get covered in mud, climb, cook, create, develop friendships, support each other, and are allowed to ‘just be kids’ with just nature as their playground.
They develop as learners socially, , emotionally, physically, spiritually, and intellectually. Children develop resilience, self-esteem, and determination to succeed. These things cannot be taught, they are gained, developed, and discovered by each individual as they travel the Forest School journey at Longcot and Fernham Primary School.
Each and every pupil accesses Forest School in our amazing grounds.
