In Monkey Class the expectation is that children read at home every day if possible. Reading diaries will be checked in school everyday. Two books will be sent home for Year 1s ( a phonic based book and a colour band reading book) and Year 2s will start with two books then one as they progress through the banded reading colours. Children can read one book a night or both. Please sign next to which books have been read and you can also comment on whether they enjoyed it. When reading discuss what happens, predict what might happen next and discuss why certain things have happened.
Obviously, if you have a busy night I understand if reading doesn't happen but it should be as often as possible.
