Mathematics
Mathematics enjoys a high profile at Longcot and Fernham Primary School. Using White Rose Maths as our foundation, staff ensure that maths is embedded, developed and celebrated throughout the school by:
- Prioritising maths as a daily essential that has applications across all curriculum areas
- Celebrating our Mathematician of the Term
- Taking part in termly Problem Solving Days
Each lesson is designed to suit the needs of the learners as we strive to ensure that each child develops a deep understanding and love of this rich and enjoyable subject. All staff strive to ensure each child becomes:
- Fluent with numbers: developing both mental arithmetic skills and formal written methods
- Able to solve problems using a range of strategies
- Confident with their ability to reason deeply; making links and spotting pattern in number
