Longcot and Fernham Nursery

Welcome to our Nursery

We are delighted to be opening a Nursery at Longcot and Fernham CE Primary School. The Nursery will open in January 2020 and can take a 30 hour place (6 hours x 5 days) up to 8 places during term time. Pupils thrive in our happy school where the continual focus is on improvement and reflection. One parent in a recent parent survey stated commented that

“The staff really care about the children and they know each one individually. It is a small and very nurturing school and the behaviour of the children is exceptional.”

We aim to provide a warm, inviting and stimulating environment within Parrot Class for nursery children where children feel happy and secure and are encouraged to achieve their full potential.

Location

Set in the small village of Longcot, surrounded by beautiful countryside and overlooking White Horse Hill, Longcot and Fernham Primary is an outstanding educational setting where all are warmly welcomed. Longcot and Fernham CE Primary School has a large outdoor space comprising of a large outdoor playground, an adventure playground, large field area and Cooper’s Corner, where our outdoor education takes place.

In addition, the Nursery and Reception pupils have their own fenced and secure all weather surfaced play area. Here they are able to experience all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.

Children in Nursery follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and are taught using a topic based approach providing as many practical experiences as possible. Learning is done through play, led by school staff, with opportunities to apply knowledge through child initiated learning.

Funding

From January 2020 nursery children can take up a 30 hour place (6 hours x 5 days) up to 8 places during term time. We encourage parents to use all their allotted sessions however we fully understand if children are not ready for their full allocation of hours. We will, of course, work with each family to ensure the best for each child. Once taken, a place has to be for the full 30 hours as these cannot then be offered to another child. Consistent attendance allows children to settle more quickly and to establish routines. Paid for places of 30 hours for those not entitled to Government funding are available on a termly basis (current rate is £4.88 per hour).

Lunch

There are 8 nursery lunch club places available and we would request that a packed lunch be provided by parents.
