Our topic this term is Famous for More than 5 Minutes where we will be learning about lots of famous people form the past and those in the present. First we talked about what being famous really means. This a tricky question and we had a good discussion then we made up a list of some of the famous people we know. We could have gone on for longer!
We looked at some work by the famous artist Vincent Van Gogh and were inspired by his Sunflowers work. Using paints and wax crayons we created our own sunflower pictures.
We found out about Florence Nightingale and why she is remembered. It is fun finding out about people from history and how they changed the world for us.
Following our success at painting sunflowers we were then inspired to do collage work based on Van Gogh's famous painting. We were so quiet when we were working on these! We loved doing it!
We looked at the work of the artist George Seurat. He worked in a pointilism style. His work was created with dots so as you look at the pictures your eyes make the colours merge. We used cotton buds to work in a pointilism style. It took a lot of patience but we were happy with our results.
