In our first art session of the term we mixed with the primary colours and white and black to make beautiful colour rings.
Our topic this term is Let's be Scientists so we will be doing science experiments.
First we wanted to see if an orange would float or sink and after our predictions we tested it. With the peel on it floated, but when we took the peel off it sank. After a discussion and questions we then tried a banana which floated with and without the skin. It's great being scientists!
In our next science experiment we wanted to see if sugar would dissolve better in hot water or cold water. Most of us predicted hot water and we were correct. We discussed why we think this is and thought of other questions linked to this. Science is lots of fun and we delve deep into our brains!
In art we looked at the Abstract Art of Wassily Kandinsky and then produced our own art work based on his creations. What do you think of ours?
Our latest experiment has been making hoop gliders. They were easy to make and fun to fly. Then we tried to see if we could improve them. Some of us realised we tried to put too much on and they didn't fly too well. The gliders with 3 hoops glided the best!
We had to make Gloop so we could then practise writing instructions. This was great fun!
For our next experiment we tested which chocolate would melt the quickest between dark, milk or white chocolate. We discovered the white chocolate melted the quickest.
Then we wanted to see which chocolate would melt first in our hands! We tried white and milk chocolate. First we held them for 5 minutes in our open hands then we clenched our fists for 10 minutes. For some the milk chocolate melted first but for others it was the white chocolate. Most surprising of all was that Katie's and Harry's didn't melt! The rest of us got very messy but it was great fun. At home time we were allowed to eat any chocolate that was left!
